UPSSSC is recruiting 134 Junior Engineers (Avar Abhiyanta) for the Directorate of Agriculture, Uttar Pradesh, through Advertisement No. 19-Exam/2026. Online applications run from 17 September to 7 October 2026, and corrections and fee adjustment are allowed until 14 October 2026.
Check the eligibility line first: the post needs a three-year Diploma in Agricultural Engineering (BTEUP, or an AICTE-approved equivalent — the advertisement lists Agricultural Engineering and Agricultural Technology). A Civil Engineering diploma does not qualify. It is also a PET-based Main exam, so only candidates who appeared in UPSSSC PET-2025 can apply, and the shortlist is drawn from PET-2025 normalised scores.
The Main exam is a single two-hour paper of 100 objective questions: 65 on thirteen agricultural-engineering topics (five questions each), 15 on computers and IT, and 20 on Uttar Pradesh. Irrigation, water requirement of crops, drainage and soil-and-water conservation make up a quarter of the paper — ground a civil syllabus covers well.

How to Prepare for UPSSSC JE Agriculture 2026
- 1Check your diploma before anything else. This post is for Agricultural Engineering diploma holders — a Civil diploma does not qualify, whatever the overlap in syllabus.
- 2Part-1 gives exactly five questions to each of its thirteen topics, so no topic can be skipped. Short ones such as tractors, biogas and agro-based industries are as valuable as irrigation.
- 3Irrigation, water requirement of crops, drainage and soil-and-water conservation together carry about 25 questions — duty, delta, consumptive use, irrigation scheduling and gully-control structures are the high-yield areas.
- 4I.C. engines is the one topic the advertisement says will have numericals — practise engine terms and performance calculations.
- 5Part-3 is 20 marks of pure Uttar Pradesh GK, and Part-2 adds 15 marks of computers; together they are a third of the paper and quick to secure.
- 6¼ negative marking on a 1-mark question adds up — four wrong answers erase one right one, so leave genuinely unknown questions blank.
