| Advt. 461/2026-27 (15.10.2026) — Work Assistant, Class-3 | 1,663: UR 703, EWS 160, SEBC 443, SC 115, ST 242. Within these, reserved for women: UR 232, EWS 53, SEBC 146, SC 38, ST 80; for PwD 113 and ex-servicemen 166. |
How to Prepare for GSSSB Work Assistant 2026
- 1Part-B is 120 of the 210 marks, and irrigation (20), water resource management (15), hydrology (10) and hydraulics (10) together make 55 of them — far more than in an SSC JE paper. This is a water-resources department's post: canals, cross-drainage works, dams and spillways, crop water requirement and runoff deserve the most time.
- 2There is a 1/4 negative mark for each wrong answer, and you must clear 40% in Part-A and 40% in Part-B separately. A strong Part-B does not rescue a weak Part-A — prepare both.
- 3Part-A's 30 reasoning and 30 quantitative questions are at the level of the qualification; regular timed practice raises both speed and accuracy.
- 4The Constitution section has a political-science flavour — party system, elections, local self-government, democracy and development — as well as the usual Rights, Duties and Directive Principles.
- 5Current affairs covers Gujarat as well as national and international events. Follow the state's schemes and the Narmada and water-resources news.
- 6The questions come in Gujarati and English, so learn the key civil-engineering terms in both — for example નહેર (canal) and બંધ (dam).
- 7Keep your diploma mark sheets and every certificate (category, non-creamy-layer, EWS, PwD, sports) ready, and make sure their dates fall within the windows the notification sets — a certificate obtained after the last date is not accepted.
