This Privacy Policy explains how CIVILGYAN TEST SERIES ("we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, and protects your personal information when you use our Platform. By using the Platform, you consent to the practices described here.
1. Information We Collect
- Account information — your name, email address, and/or phone number when you register or log in.
- Authentication data — if you sign in with Google, we receive your basic profile (name, email) from Google.
- Usage data — tests attempted, scores, answers, and progress, used to show your performance and improve the Platform.
- Payment information — handled entirely by our payment partner (Razorpay). We receive only confirmation of a successful payment and a transaction reference; we do NOT store your card or bank details.
- Technical data — basic log information such as device/browser type, used for security and reliability.
2. How We Use Your Information
- To create and manage your account and provide access to purchased content.
- To record your test attempts and show your performance and analytics.
- To process payments and grant the corresponding access.
- To communicate important updates, receipts, and support responses.
- To maintain the security, integrity, and reliability of the Platform.
3. How We Share Information
We do not sell your personal information. We share data only with trusted service providers who help us operate the Platform, namely:
- Razorpay — to securely process payments.
- Hosting & database providers — to run the Platform (for example, our cloud hosting and database).
- Authentication providers — such as Google, if you choose to sign in with them.
- Analytics providers — Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity, which receive anonymous usage data as described in section 5.
We may also disclose information if required by law or to protect our rights, users, or the public.
4. Cookies & Sessions
We use essential cookies to keep you logged in and to operate core features. We do not use cookies to sell your data. You can control cookies through your browser settings, but disabling essential cookies may break login and other features.
5. Analytics & Session Recording
To understand how students use CIVILGYAN and to fix what is confusing or broken, we use two third-party analytics services:
Google Analytics 4 records anonymous usage events — pages viewed, tests started and completed, and purchases made — along with general information such as your device type, browser and approximate region (city level, derived from your IP address). Google Analytics does not receive your name, email address or phone number.
Microsoft Clarity records how pages are used, including mouse movement, taps, scrolling and clicks, and may replay these as an anonymous session recording. Clarity automatically masks text you type into form fields, so passwords, payment details and other text you enter are not captured. We use these recordings only to find usability problems.
Both services set their own cookies. If you would rather not be included, you can opt out using the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on, or by enabling “Do Not Track” / blocking analytics cookies in your browser settings. Opting out does not affect your access to any test or feature.
6. Data Security
We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your information, including encrypted connections and hashed passwords. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
7. Data Retention
We retain your account and usage data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the service, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements.
8. Your Rights
- You may access and update your account information from your settings.
- You may request deletion of your account by contacting us (subject to legal retention requirements).
- You may opt out of non-essential communications.
9. Children's Privacy
The Platform is intended for exam aspirants, generally adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us data, please contact us so we can remove it.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date above.
