Advertisement Notification No. 06 of 2026, dated 6 July 2026, advertised 97 Draftsman (Civil) posts in the Public Works (R&B) Department — part of a 357-post divisional cadre advertisement, the remainder being Works Supervisor. Note: Questions are set in ENGLISH ONLY and there is negative marking of one-fourth (1/4) of the marks assigned to a question for every wrong answer. Selection is made purely on merit in the written/OMR examination — there is no interview and no skill test. The five units carry fixed marks (25 / 30 / 25 / 20 / 20), so Unit 2 alone is a quarter of the paper.

- ✓Two years Draftsman Training Course Certificate or Diploma from any Government recognised institute.
- ✓Domicile of the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir, on a valid certificate issued on or before the last date of application.
- ✓Maximum age as on 01.01.2026 — 40 years for Open Merit, 43 years for reserved categories, 42 years for Physically Challenged Persons and 48 years for Ex-Servicemen. Check the category table in the notification for your exact limit.

Draftsman (Civil) is a Pay Level-4 post — ₹25,500 to ₹81,100 in the J&K pay matrix, with the usual UT allowances on top of basic pay.

JKSSB publishes category-wise and cadre-wise cut-offs per advertisement on jkssb.nic.in. Jammu and Kashmir divisional cadres are separate merit lists, so the cut-off in one cadre tells you nothing about the other.

- 1Unit 2 alone is 30 of the 120 marks — building construction, foundations, roofs, stairs and residential planning deserve the largest share of your revision time.
- 2Do not prepare this from Junior Engineer material. Drawing office practice, single stroke lettering, scales, projection and AutoCAD are worth marks here and appear in no JE syllabus.
- 3Unit 5 is 20 marks and half of it is computers and AutoCAD — commands, coordinate systems and 3D drafting. These are quick, factual marks that most candidates leave on the table.
