Draughtsman Grade-II (Technical Assistant) in the A.P. Forest Subordinate Service is recruited by the Andhra Pradesh Public Service Commission. Brief Notification No. 15/2026, dated 15 September 2026, advertises 20 provisional vacancies in the scale ₹34,580 – ₹1,07,210, and the qualification is a trade certificate in the Draughtsman (Civil) trade — an ITI of the State or an equivalent examination.

It is a single-level examination: APPSC will hold no screening test however many applications arrive, and the whole selection rests on one online (CBRT) test. Paper-I is General Studies and Mental Ability at SSC standard and Paper-II is the ITI trade paper, 150 questions and 150 minutes each, 300 marks together, with one-third of a question's marks deducted for a wrong answer. A practical Computer Proficiency Test then has to be qualified separately.

Read Paper-II before you plan anything. It is not a Junior Engineer paper and it has no building construction, no RCC and no estimating in it: of its seven units, one is drawing, five are surveying — chain and compass work, levelling and contouring, the theodolite and traversing, the total station and GPS — and the last is shop mathematics up to mensuration, trigonometry and logarithms.

How to Prepare for APPSC Draughtsman Grade-II 2026

  1. 1Five of Paper-II's seven units are surveying. Levelling, contouring, the theodolite and traverse computation are where this paper is won — not in building construction, which is not in the syllabus at all.
  2. 2Learn traverse work by hand: latitudes and departures, consecutive and independent co-ordinates, Gale's table, closing error and its adjustment. These carry more questions here than in any JE paper.
  3. 3The total station and GPS unit is fact-heavy — parts, accessories, the principle of EDM, co-ordinate systems, GPS signals and segments. Straight recall, so make a one-page list and revise it often.
  4. 4Unit 7 is shop mathematics, not engineering mathematics: units conversion between FPS, CGS and SI, fractions and decimals, mensuration, trigonometric tables, logarithms, and areas and volumes by the ordinate, trapezoidal and Simpson's rules.
  5. 5Paper-I is SSC standard with a clear Andhra Pradesh slant in history, geography and current events, so prepare AP alongside national general knowledge.
  6. 6Wrong answers cost one-third of a question's marks, so guess only when you can knock out two options.
  7. 7Do not forget the Computer Proficiency Test — it is practical typing, Word, Excel and PowerPoint work, and it has to be qualified separately.
