Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) — a Maharatna Central PSU and India's flagship energy company — recruits civil engineers as Executives (Graduate Engineer, Grade A) through its own Computer Based Test (CBT). This is a shift from the earlier GATE-score route: IOCL now sets and conducts the exam itself, so your preparation targets the IOCL CBT pattern directly.
The CBT has 100 objective questions in 150 minutes, split into Section A (General Aptitude — 50 Q) and Section B (Domain Knowledge, Civil Engineering — 50 Q). Each correct answer earns 1 mark and every wrong answer costs 0.25 marks. Section A comes first, then Section B.
Shortlisting for the next stages is on CBT marks (subject to section-wise and overall cut-offs). Final selection combines CBT (85% weight), Group Discussion + Group Task (5%) and Personal Interview (10%).
