UPSC Engineering Services Examination (ESE/IES) 2027 — Notification Out

UPSC has issued the Engineering Services Examination 2027 notice on 16 September 2026 for about 480 vacancies in Civil, Mechanical, Electrical and Electronics & Telecommunication engineering services. Selection is through Prelims (objective, 500 marks), Mains (conventional, 600 marks) and a Personality Test (200 marks).

Qualification
Degree in Engineering from a recognised university (or Sections A & B of the Institution of Engineers (India), or another equivalent listed in the notice). Candidates apply for one category only — Civil, Mechanical, Electrical or E&T. Final-year students may apply provisionally and must prove passing within 10 days of the Mains result if called for interview.

About 480 in total across Civil, Mechanical, Electrical and E&T, including 19 for PwBD (the notice does not split them by discipline).

Group A and Group B Services/Posts
Age Limit
21 to 30 years on 1 January 2027 (born between 2 January 1997 and 1 January 2006). Relaxation: SC/ST 5 years, OBC 3 years, PwBD 10 years; up to 35 years for eligible Government servants.
Application Fee
Rs 200. Female, SC, ST and PwBD candidates are exempt; no exemption for OBC/EWS.

Notification: 16 September 2026 (Notice No. 02/2027-ENGG.). Apply online: 16 September – 6 October 2026, till 6:00 PM. Prelims (Stage-I): 31 January 2027. Mains (Stage-II): 18 June 2027.
